Karl-Anthony Towns still included in Giannis trade talks amid NBA Finals run

Even with the Heat viewed as the favorites to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, NBA insider Jake Fischer indicated that Milwaukee would remain interested in evaluating a Knicks offer involving Karl-Anthony Towns.

It appears that the Milwaukee Bucks will try to exhaust everything they can obtain in a potential trade around Giannis Antetokounmpo, and that includes the possibility of still keeping in touch with the New York Knicks regarding Karl-Anthony Towns.

In the wake of the Miami Heat emerging as the leading frontrunner for the Giannis sweepstakes, NBA insider Jake Fischer revealed that the Bucks would still be expected to try to see if the Knicks would be desperate enough by offering Towns.

“I’ve had multiple people tell me today that if Milwaukee really was getting to the finish line of a Giannis trade to Miami or anywhere else, they’re calling New York back and saying, ‘Are you sure you don’t want to put Karl Anthony Towns in a trade for Giannis?'" Fischer said.

"So we will see."

Karl-Anthony Towns still can't escape trade rumors amid Knicks' NBA Finals run

Karl-Anthony Towns still finds himself being subjected to recent trade speculations, despite the fact that he and reigning East Finals MVP Jalen Brunson have led the Knicks to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.

As such, the possibility of trading Towns was previously floated out of New York's second-apron concerns.

Towns still has two more years left in his current contract, with a 2027-28 player option worth $61 million.

Ever since Towns arrived from his 2024 blockbuster trade out of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Knicks have reached greater heights. Last year, New York finally landed in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years. And just this year, with him anchoring their interior, the Knicks are now just two wins away from winning their first-ever NBA title since 1973.

It remains to be seen what the outcome will be for them in the ongoing 2026 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, but Towns can only prepare for a summer filled with trade noise once he and the Knicks fail to get the job done.
