With the Nuggets determined to retain upcoming restricted free agent Peyton Watson and several teams set to hunt for dynamic forwards and small-ball centers, Gordon is a name to monitor that might become available on the table, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.

"Whether that's Cam Johnson, that's Christian Braun, or Aaron Gordon, it really sounds like that pretty much everyone outside of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic is going to be discussable for the Nuggets front-office leadership group," Fischer said on Bleacher Report.

"I don’t know. Whether or not, the price point would end up be enough for Denver to actually move on from Aaron Gordon but he’s someone that could fit all across the league, in any situations."

Aaron Gordon endured injury-ravaged years for Denver amid an uncertain offseason

The beloved fan-favorite in Denver, Gordon's arrival at the 2021 trade deadline paved the way for the Nuggets to succeed in the Nikola Jokic era, as his versatility, reliability and hustle helped Denver win its first NBA title in 2023.

But in recent years, Gordon was significantly restricted by injuries. This 2025-26, he endured the most challenging campaign of his career, health-wise.

He only played 36 regular-season games amid hamstring complications, and his absence due to calf issues played a huge role in Denver's six-game downfall in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After the disappointing finish to their playoff run this year, the Nuggets would be forced to make painful yet necessary decisions, and that might include the possibility of parting ways with Gordon.

The 30-year-old still has three more years left in his current contract, earning over $33 million per season.
