Mike Brown sends condolences to Stacey King’s family after passing

New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown is focused on devising a game plan that can help his team regain overwhelming control of the 2026 NBA Finals, but he is not letting those preparations prevent him from paying his respects to three-time NBA champion and longtime Chicago Bulls broadcaster Stacey King, who died at the age of 59 on June 7.

“I'd like to pass my condolences on to Stacey King's family,” Brown said at the beginning of his media session on Tuesday, per the SNY Knicks X account. “Obviously it happened a couple of days ago and I wanted to say something yesterday, but I did not. My thoughts and prayers are out to the Bulls organization and his family and his friends.”

The two-time Coach of the Year is echoing a sentiment shared by many people within the basketball world. King thrived at the University of Oklahoma and helped the program reach the 1988 national title game. He continued to play high-stakes hoops after entering the pros, serving as a role player during the first half of the Michael Jordan-led 1990s Bulls dynasty.

The former No. 6 overall draft pick later played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks. He then made a name for himself as Chicago's lead color commentator, beginning in the mid-2000s. The franchise and community will miss the joyous and energetic Stacey King dearly.

Mike Brown is keeping the Oklahoma native and his family in mind ahead of Wednesday's Game 4 meeting with the Spurs.
