Latest summer transfer news and rumours

Spurs ready Van Hecke bid

Tottenham are preparing another bid for Jan Paul van Hecke.

That comes from Ben Jacobs, after Brighton and Hove Albion CEO Paul Barber revealed on Talksport that the Seagulls had turned down two offers from Spurs for their Dutch defender.

Former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, now in the dugout at Spurs, is keen for a reunion with Van Hecke, who has starred on the Sussex coast since his 2020 arrival from NAC Breda.

Liverpool make Diomande approach

Liverpool have made an approach for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

The Athletic reports that the young Ivorian is the Reds’ top transfer priority, and the 19-year-old is in high demand, with Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain also sniffing around.

It is believed that Liverpool have made an enquiry to sign the starlet, but Leipzig have issued a hands-off warning.

Man Utd quoted Wharton price

Manchester United have learned how much it will take for Crystal Palace to sell Adam Wharton this summer.

The Eagles will be keen to hold onto their star midfielder after their Conference League triumph, but Alan Nixon reports that they could be tempted to part with the England international for a fee in the region of £100million.

Chelsea eye Vlahovic

Chelsea are looking at a move for Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serb is available on a free transfer this summer after failing to agree a new deal at Juventus, and CaughtOffside claims that the Blues are the side who in most advanced talks for the striker.

They will face stiff competition from Tottenham, Manchester United and abroad, with teams in Turkey and Spain also keen on his services.

Arsenal learn Kroupi fee

Arsenal are in the market for another forward this summer.

While much of their attention is on Julian Alvarez, they have also set their sights on Junior Kroupi, the breakout Bournemouth star.

The Frenchman has taken the Premier League by storm on debut, scoring 13 times in 33 games, including against the Gunners earlier this year.

Now, Foot Mercato have revealed that Bournemouth have set Arsenal a price of £86million if they want to prise the 19-year-old away from the Dorset coast.

Arsenal get Alvarez update

Arsenal’s attempts to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid this summer has become even more difficult.

Alvarez has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta bids to bolster his attack ahead of the new season where the Gunners hope to retain their Premier League title.

According to reports, Arsenal have a long-standing interest in the Argentina international after weighing up a move last summer before opting to sign Viktor Gyokeres instead.

Alvarez ended up staying in the Spanish capital and netted 20 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions - including one against the Gunners in the Champions League - for Atletico this season.

It has since been widely reported that the 26-year-old will be leaving Atleti this summer, though a Spanish publication Cadena SER have not ruled out a shock U-turn that would see the forward stay put for at least one more season.

How much Jose Mourinho will cost Real Madrid

Real Madrid will pay €15million (£12.9million) to Benfica to appoint Jose Mourinho for a second time.

Mourinho's return to the Santiago Bernabeu moved a step closer after Florentino Perez was re-elected as the club’s president over the weekend.

An official announcement is expected imminently after Los Blancos issued a statement confirming Alvaro Arbeloa's departure as head coach on Tuesday evening.

Manager developments

It is all falling into place now, Benfica have confirmed Jose Mourinho is set to join Real Madrid and will be replaced by ex-Fulham boss Marco Silva.

Newcastle to wrap up deal in 24 hours

Newcastle set to confirm a deal for goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen.

The Magpies have reached an agreement with Reims for worth around £18.5million and the 20-year-old is expected in the UK within the next 24 hours to finalise the move, according to Sky Sports.

It is understood he will sign a long-term contract at St James' Park, replacing Aaron Ramsdale in the goalkeeping department.

Alvarez's preference revealed amid Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona links

Here is Sky Sports News' Gary Cotterill discussing Julian Alvarez's preference following Real Madrid's bid.

"It's the Galactico bid that Florentino Perez was promising in that election campaign.

"Today, they name that player and make that bid. There is a big difference between a bid and bringing the player to the club. Maybe a bit of mischief-making, a little bit of living up to his promise.

"Alvarez is on a contract until 2030 and has a clause in that contract that a bid of €500m has to be made before they have to sell.

"That is a bit of protection for Atletico, it is not a realistic figure. A much smaller bid would be acceptable, somewhere around the €150m mark, if the player wanted to leave and the club were happy to sell him.

"Barcelona are also interested in the player, as were Arsenal and PSG but it has been made clear to them that the player wants to go to Barcelona, if he goes anywhere.

"Interesting bid. It is a little bit cheeky from Real Madrid."

Arsenal U21s head coach leaves for Stoke

Arsenal’s under-21 head coach Max Porter is leaving to join Stoke as Mark Robins’ assistant manager.

Porter has been at Arsenal since July 2017, joining the club as a coach for the under-9's side and has slowly progressed up the ranks.

Porter was appointed Arsenal under-21 head coach ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, succeeding Mehmet Ali after he had departed for Brentford last summer.

Standard Sport revealed that Jack Wilshere was a strong candidate to replace Ali during Arsenal’s recruitment process.

However, Wilshere decided against a return, instead pursuing his coaching career in senior football as he took over at Luton during the season and Porter got the job instead.

Porter led Arsenal’s Under-21s to a 14th-place finish in Premier League 2 this season, with his final game in charge being the 3-1 loss to Manchester City at the end of April.

“He has built a reputation as one of the brightest young coaches in the game and has played an important role in the development of a number of exceptional young players during his time at Arsenal.

“What stood out to us was Max’s drive, energy and ambition. He is constantly looking to improve, challenge and develop those around him, and we believe he will be a tremendous addition to our environment.

“As we continue to strengthen and add quality to our backroom staff, Max is another important appointment for the club, and we’re excited to see the impact he can make as we prepare for the season ahead.”
