The Miami Heat are very hopeful that Giannis Antetokounmpo will end up in South Beach.
The Milwaukee Bucks might not want to move on from Antetokounmpo, and there's reason to believe they won't, though it's still likely that, if they do, it will be in a deal with Miami.
Right now, the Bucks still have some leverage, but if Antetokounmpo doesn't sign an extension with them over the next few months, they won't have much left.
While it remains uncertain when a deal will be done, or whether one will, it's interesting to hear how Heat reporters are talking about it, with one even saying that he believes there's more than a 50% chance that a deal gets done.
“In the pantheon of stories that I’ve written that I’ve never hit ‘print’, last night I wrote my ‘Heat get Giannis Antetokounmpo [story]’… I am at that point, that I think it is possible that I might be out, I might be getting the car washed, I might be doing something else. I got to have that story ready.
“You guys over the years have asked me to put percentages on this stuff, and it’s a hard thing to do. I think saying ‘50/50’ might be selling this even a little bit short,” Ira Winderman wrote.
It seems like many have said this in the past about Antetokounmpo being traded, so I'm in the boat that until it gets done, there really isn't much to talk about here. Of course, there's a possibility it's going to happen, but we can say that for any team and any player in the NBA making a deal.
