Insistence Arsenal‘only escape route’ for player – Gunners keen, have funds for signing

Arsenal continue to have interest in Atlético Madrid’s Julián Alvarez.

Over the past few months, there’s been regular coverage of the Premier League winners’ desire to sign the striker this summer.

On May 25th, Sport Witness relayed news that Arsenal intermediaries registered interest, and Alvarez gave green light for a summer move.

Last week, we covered claims from Spain the Gunners are preparing to make a move to sign him.

Mikel Arteta’s side already tried to sign the Argentina international last summer, but Los Rojiblancos rejected their bid. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on securing his services.

Arsenal can save World Cup winner

On Tuesday, Real Madrid confirmed that Atlético Madrid rejected their €150m bid for the South American.

AS pick up on that and cover the latest on Arsenal and Barcelona interest in the former Manchester City man.

Florentino Pérez said he’d make a €150m bid for a player as part of his election campaign.

After the president won re-election, Los Blancos made this offer for the Argentine, allowing Pérez to fulfil his promise. There won’t be any further advances until the player opens the door to join Real Madrid.

Barcelona have shown keen interest in the frontman, and the Gunners are battling with them for his signature.

However, Hansi Flick’s side have no intention of offering more than €100m for the World Cup winner. This is unlikely to please Atlético, and the Camp Nou side are looking at other options.

AS journalist José Félix Díaz covered this report. He insists, due to the current situation, the ‘only escape route for Julián Álvarez is Arsenal’.

Díaz claims the English champions have both interest and the funds to complete his signing but it won’t be easy.

PSG not taken into account

Earlier claims have repeatedly named Paris Saint-Germain as one of the player’s suitors.

José Félix Díaz didn’t consider the Champions League winners, after ruling out Barcelona and Real Madrid, and insists ‘only Arsenal can save Julián Alvarez’.

Either way, there won’t be any deal if Atlético Madrid remain firm and refuse to sell him.

Transfermarkt value the player, with a contract until 2030, at €100m.
