FBI Reveals Reason Behind Overnight Military Exercises That Alarmed SoCal Residents: Report (patch.com) โ Late-night military helicopters and simulated gunfire over Los Angeles and nearby cities were part of FBI-coordinated training for the 2026 World Cup and other major events, officials told local media. Residents in Pasadena, Long Beach, Irvine and the City of Industry reported sleepless nights and lingering anxiety, while local leaders criticized sparse communication and short-notice public alerts.
2. Suspect Shot By Police During Chase Through LA: Reports (patch.com) โ Residents in South Los Angeles and Boyle Heights saw another dangerous police pursuit Tuesday, as officers chased an allegedly armed suspect in a possibly stolen pickup from South LA to Marietta and Garner streets. The man reportedly drove on the wrong side of the road before fleeing on foot, when officers shot and wounded him, marking the second chase-ending shooting in the Los Angeles area within a week.
3. Rams Player Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge: LAPD (patch.com) โ Los Angeles football fans are learning that Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson was arrested in West Hills on suspicion of felony domestic violence after LAPD officers responded to a late-night call. Jackson was booked into Los Angeles County jail, released on bond, and faces a scheduled Los Angeles Superior Court appearance while prosecutors review the case and the Rams say they are monitoring the situation.
4. With Pratt Out and Raman In, Los Angeles Mayoral Race Takes New Shape (hsjchronicle.com) โ Los Angeles voters now face a November mayoral runoff between incumbent Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman after late-counted ballots edged Republican Spencer Pratt out. The race will center on homelessness, housing affordability, policing, and how City Hall responds to everyday struggles across neighborhoods from Silver Lake to South LA. Both campaigns must now court Pratt's supporters and impatient Angelenos seeking faster change.
5. New video raises questions about Southern California Edison's role in deadly Eaton Fire (foxla.com) โ Los Angeles County prosecutors are reviewing whether Southern California Edison could face criminal liability for the deadly Eaton Fire, as new surveillance video allegedly shows electrical arcing near an Edison tower in Pasadena. With 19 deaths, thousands of structures lost, and insurers pushing a judge to find Edison financially liable before trial, victims are weighing large settlement offers that would forfeit their right to sue.
