Manchester United have confirmed first-team players Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro and Jadon Sancho will all leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of this month.
But United have offered a new deal to 23-year-old goalkeeper Dermot Mee, who has been a key figure in training despite not cracking the first-team from a playing perspective.
The departures of Malacia, Casemiro and Sancho had been expected. Casemiro confirmed in January that he was leaving when his deal expired.
The 34-year-old Brazilian enjoyed a memorable four seasons at Old Trafford after his £60million move from Real Madrid, scoring 26 goals in 160 games and winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Malacia departs after two serious knee injuries. He made 50 appearances in his four years at the club, but played only three times as a late substitute in the Premier League last season.
Sancho has spent the last two-and-a-half years out on loan and his United career has long been considered over. A £73million signing from Borussia Dortmund, he has made only 83 appearances for the club in five years.
But Northern Ireland goalkeeper Mee might extend his stay at Old Trafford. In confirming an offer of a new deal had been made, United said that the academy graduate has "played an important role in first-team training in recent years, whilst representing United’s Under-21s side in competitive fixtures."
Three academy players will leave the club on free transfers this summer, with Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe all departing, but defenders Albert Mills and Dante Plunkett are expected to sign their first professional terms with the club in July.
