Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and Brazil international Sandro has backed Manchester United’s reported pursuit of Atalanta star Ederson, describing the transfer as a “bargain” in today’s inflated football market.
Manchester United have agreed a deal for the Brazilian midfielder as they continue to reshape their squad ahead of the summer transfer window, with midfield reinforcements a key priority for the club’s recruitment team. Ederson, who has been a standout performer for Atalanta in Serie A, has earned widespread praise for his energy, tactical intelligence, and ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch.
Sandro, who enjoyed several seasons in the Premier League with Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers, believes Ederson would represent excellent value for Manchester United.
Speaking to the betting experts at BritishGambler.co.uk, Sandro noted the disparity in prices across the current landscape. “I think Ederson as well, £38 million I believe,” he said. “When you think, Man U are linked with Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Tchouameni from Real Madrid, they’re all obviously world-class players, but they are so expensive comparatively.
“I think £38 million for Edison is a bit of a bargain, really, in today’s market, right?”.
“I know that he’s a top midfielder,” Sandro explained. “He went to Brazil a few times with the national team. I saw a couple of videos, whilst I didn’t follow him game by game, I know that he’s strong.
‘He has that physical ability to play in the Premier League and I know that a few other clubs wanted to sign him from the Premier League as well. But this is a player that will come to United to replace Casemiro.
‘And, wow… to replace Casemiro, you have to put your level right at the top, right up there with the best, because Casemiro is a huge, huge player, and he did well at United.”
Ederson has been instrumental in Atalanta’s recent domestic and European campaigns, forming a key part of their midfield structure. His ability to break up play, drive forward with the ball, and maintain intensity across 90 minutes has made him one of the most admired midfield profiles in Italy.
Manchester United’s interest comes amid ongoing questions over their midfield balance, with the club seeking greater control and durability in central areas. While they possess a number of technically gifted players, consistency and physical dominance in big matches have been recurring concerns.
