Inter Milan have been pushing to sign Liverpool‘s Curtis Jones and have a new strategy to possibly complete a deal.
In the last few weeks, Sport Witness have covered details of a meeting between the two clubs. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio spoke to Richard Hughes about the midfielder and even made a formal offer.
The Nerazzurri put forward €20m for a permanent deal, with the Englishman keen on the move himself.
Liverpool’s demand stands at €30m, with Jones refusing to renew his deal which currently runs out in 2027.
Despite having their initial bid rejected, Inter continue to indirectly put pressure on the deal for Jones.
Atta interest seen as a strategy
Today’s Corriere dello Sport note that Inter held a meeting with Udinese sporting director Gianluca Nani yesterday. This was to progress a move for Oumar Solet and that deal is now going in the right direction.
At the same time, their interest in Arthur Atta has also emerged. This leads the newspaper to talk about Liverpool’s Jones, as they believe the Atta interest is a way to push a deal for the England man.
This has put pressure on the Reds to reduce their €30m asking price and agree to a discount.
Liverpool continue to demand that price, with Inter’s offer still at €20m. Jones has an agreement over personal terms, though, and this can also help in a possible move later in the window.
Atta, meanwhile, will only become an important target if a deal for Jones doesn’t go through.
Inter likely to keep pushing
While Liverpool aren’t budging, a lot of time is left for the clubs to get into business mode during the window. They can become much more serious after the World Cup.
That is probably why Inter are in no rush to sign Jones. They are also waiting for the sales of Denzel Dumfries and Davide Frattesi. While the Dutchman is going to Real Madrid, the Italian is yet to find a new club.
