“Meeting with Everton” planned to open transfer negotiations – Loan or transfer on cards

**River Plate are planning “a meeting with [Everton](https://sportwitness.co.uk/everton/)” next week to discuss the possibility of Carlos Alcaraz returning to the club.**

[Soy del Millo report information](https://soydelmillo.com/mercado-de-pases/2026/06/09/river-dio-luz-verde-y-avanza-en-inglaterra-reunion-con-el-everton/) from journalist Germán García Grova about the 23-year-old. River Plate are interested in bringing him home this summer.

**Everton meeting planned**

---------------------------

The website explains that River Plate are preparing to face one of the most important transfer window in recent years. A major squad restructuring is on the way at the club.

The Argentine club are already exploring the situation of various players, and Everton’s Charly Alcaraz is one of them. He is a ‘specific request’ from manager Chacho Coudet.

He wants improvement in his forward line and Germán García Grova reports that he has asked River Plate’s management to inquire about the possibility of signing the Everton midfielder.

River have scheduled a meeting for next week with the Toffees. They want to determine if a loan deal is possible or what a potential transfer fee would be.

Alcaraz, of course, is a product of their youth system, coming up through the ranks before being sold to Southampton in early 2023 for almost €14m.

He then spent time at Juventus, before moving to Flamengo for €18m. Everton then signed him on loan in January last year before buying him permanently for €15m.

**Difficult season**

--------------------

But the 23-year-old endured a difficult campaign under David Moyes last season. He featured in just 20% of the available minutes in the Premier League all season. Injuries did play their part in that, though.

Reports this summer have indicated he is one of the players in the current squad whose status remains to be determined this summer. The indications are that Everton will do a deal at the right price.

Now River Plate are set to ask the question, with a meeting scheduled for next week to work out what the Toffees stance currently is.
