Manchester United have confirmed their final decision on Jadon Sancho.
Sancho spent last season on loan at Aston Villa from Old Trafford, helping Unai Emery’s side finish fourth in the Premier League - just behind the Red Devils - and win the Europa League.
It had been suggested United could activate a clause in Sancho’s contract to extend his stay at the club for another year, but they announced on Wednesday that the player will leave Old Trafford when his deal ends this summer.
He is one of three players set to depart, alongside Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia.
“Everyone at the club would like to thank Casemiro, Tyrell and Jadon for their contributions to Manchester United and wish them the very best of luck for the future,” United said in a statement.
Aston Villa - Europa League glory special edition on sale now
Unai Emery and his squad have brought silverware back to Villa Park by lifting the Europa League crown. And to celebrate, the Birmingham Mail have produced this stunning souvenir special edition, charting Villa's path to glory.
It is full of interviews, features, striking images and celebrations as we look back at a season to remember.
It means Sancho will become a free agent during the summer transfer window.
Speaking before Villa’s final match of the Premier League season, Emery insisted he had not made any decision about whether to try to sign the 26-year-old permanently or not.
“Not yet,” he said, when asked if he’d decided on Sancho and fellow loanee Douglas Luiz.
“Now we are finishing the season. We will reflect and analyse each situation. We will decide it, but not yet.
“I am so, so proud of every player and how they have responded. Now is the moment after Sunday to take decisions how we will continue building and getting our development strongly.
"We are ambitious and everything we did is important to how we can analyse how to get better next year. I only want to improve and get better next year. The decisions we take will be in this direction.”
