FC Barcelona Midfielder Casado Has New Potential Next Destination

It's pretty much taken for granted that Marc Casado will leave FC Barcelona this summer.

Real Betis could end up being FC Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado's next destination according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

That Casado will leave his boyhood club this summer is already taken for granted. Breaking through to the first team group for Hansi Flick’s first preseason camp in 2024, he looked to be a lock in the center of the park alongside fellow La Masia graduate Marc Bernal.

When Frenkie de Jong returned to the fold, however, Casado was gradually phased out. In 2025/2026, he fell further out of the picture, with not just De Jong but also Bernal and Gavi standing in his way of partnering “untouchable” Pedri.

At 22, Casado knows he must move on to find regular first team football and not stagnate.

He doesn’t fancy Saudi Arabia despite such a move making him rich beyond his wildest dreams, yet AS Monaco has emerged as a sound alternative.

With the Ligue 1 outfit about to make Ansu Fati’s transfer permanent following a successful loan spell there, Casado would find a familiar face in the south of France while also given the minutes he seeks to continue his development.

Yet while Casado would prefer a loan, Barça seeks a sale at a time it is trying to land big transfer targets such as Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.

Real Betis have emerged as another option for FC Barcelona star Casado

Real Betis is reportedly fond of Casado and could be set to lose midfielders such as Sergi Altimira and Nelson Deossa, who both have an endless list of potential suitors.

The Sevilla club’s technical staff admire Casado and see him fitting into the Betis team comfortably. At present, though, their club is unable to afford the $23 million (€20 million) fee the Catalans want for Casado in a one-and-done transfer.

Good relations between the two parties on past deals, including Ez Abde and Chadi Riad, indicate that something could be worked out.

Barça might agree to giving Casado to Betis for a lower fee but with a high percentage of a future sell-on fee.

We’ve seen previously with Chadi Riad how these players with a Barça past can go for a tidy profit in the Premier League. In the summer of 2024, the defender was sold to Crystal Palace for $16.2 million (£14 million) including add-ons.

One thing is for certain, a permanent exit for Casado will hurt local FC Barcelona fans. The Sant Pere de Vilamajor native is one of them - a Culer through and through, who has twice taken the streets to celebrate the Blaugrana’s La Liga title wins under Flick.
