Manchester United have announced that Jadon Sancho and five other players are to depart the club this month.

Sancho, 26, arrived at United from Borussia Dortmund for £73million back in 2021 and went on to make 83 appearances in a Reds shirt, netting 12 goals and contributing six assists. His last outing for the club came in the 2024 Community Shield, when he entered the fray as a second-half substitute against Manchester City.

The 23-time England international spent the latter half of the 2023/24 campaign back at Dortmund, before heading out on loan to Chelsea for 2024/25 and subsequently to Aston Villa for 2025/26.

Despite making every effort to secure a transfer fee for Sancho across the previous two summer windows, United were left with no option but to allow him to walk away on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.

Departing alongside Sancho are Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe, following the club's release of their full retained list on Wednesday morning.

Casemiro

Casemiro confirmed his exit from Old Trafford in January and rounded off the season in impressive fashion under Michael Carrick, playing a key role in securing Champions League football. The Brazilian midfielder joined the Reds from Real Madrid in 2022 and became a cult hero in M16, featuring in more than 150 matches and collecting both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time at the club.

Some United fans had been hopeful the club could persuade the 34-year-old to reverse his decision and stay at Old Trafford for at least another season. However, neither Casemiro nor the club budged from their respective positions - and he made his final appearance for United in the 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest last month.

In a heartfelt message following his last United outing, Casemiro said on social media: "There are places we pass through in life... and there are places that become part of who we are. Manchester will forever be my home.

Malacia, meanwhile, endured a turbulent four years at United following his arrival from Feyenoord for £13m in 2022. His debut campaign showed considerable promise, with the full-back registering 39 appearances across all competitions. However, things deteriorated sharply thereafter when a serious knee injury sidelined him for 18 months.
