Although it’s been common knowledge for a while now, it’s the first time that United have formally addressed Sancho’s future.
He has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons out on loan with other sides. Following his fallout with Erik ten Hag in 2023/2024, he returned to his former club, Borussia Dortmund, for the second half of the campaign.
The forward then joined Chelsea for the entirety of 2024/2025, and Aston Villa for 2025/2026. The former stint saw him win the UEFA Conference League, and with the latter, he featured in their Europa League triumph last month.
What’s next for Sancho?
It remains to be seen where he will look to ply his trade next.
Villa have given no indication of whether they want to keep hold of him long-term, while Dortmund are reportedly keen on welcoming Sancho back for a third stint now that they won’t have to pay any transfer fee.

One thing’s for sure, though, and that’s that the 26-year-old will have to take a pay cut wherever he goes, as no team will be willing to match the exorbitant £250,000-a-week he was pocketing throughout his lacklustre United tenure.
He pulls the curtains on his four-year stint having made only 83 appearances for the club, returning a measly 12 goals and six assists in all competitions. Sancho was part of the side that won the Carabao Cup in 2022/2023.
