Each summer transfer window allows players and clubs all across the globe to get the opportunity to write the next chapter of their respective stories, and there was one player who was set for a big move early on in his career: Hertha Berlin’s Kennet Eichhorn.
The 16-year-old German wonderkid has set the global game on fire this season in the Bundesliga 2, recording 23 interceptions and winning out on 16 tackles. While these aren’t the most impressive stats on paper, given his age and the experience of his opponents in the German second division, it’s something to take note of.
It’s one of the reasons that Eichhorn was the subject of some serious interest from the likes of German giants Bayern Munich, as well as Liverpool, among other clubs. Given both sides' immense coaching staffs, state-of-the-art training facilities, and youth networks, it would've been imagined that he would be a player to watch in the coming years.

Despite those features and the interest from some of the bigger European clubs, the 16-year-old is reportedly taking his talents to the German top-flight, with a former Bundesliga-winning side, Bayer Leverkusen.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Eichhorn will make the move to Leverkusen for a fee of 9 million, as it matches the release clause in his contract with Hertha Berlin.
The 16-year-old will join a midfield core consisting of Malik Tillman, Aleix Garcia, and Robert Andrich, among others, and a side that finished in the sixth spot of the Bundesliga table, meaning he could make his European debut with Leverkusen, as they’ll feature in the Europa League for the upcoming campaign.
