Juventus reach agreement with Alisson alternative

Juventus have moved quickly to identify an alternative to Alisson Becker after their long-running admiration for the Liverpool No.1 ran into a dead end.

Towards the end of the season there was growing speculation that Alisson could swap Anfield for Turin, with Juventus sounding out the possibility of a blockbuster move for the Brazilian.

Those hopes faded as Liverpool triggered a 12‑month extension clause in his deal, keeping him under contract until the summer of 2027.

Reports have also indicated that Liverpool formally communicated to Alisson and his camp that they want him to stay.

The 33-year-old, for his part, was never keen to force an exit and did not want to risk damaging his relationship with the club or its supporters after years as a modern icon at Anfield.

With Liverpool blocking any exit, Juventus have turned their attention firmly to Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martinez as their new first-choice target.

Multiple outlets in Italy, including from Sky Italia, report that the Bianconeri have now reached an agreement in principle with Martinez over personal terms. The 2022 World Cup winner is said to have accepted a three‑year contract to play at the Allianz Stadium.

The Argentina international is said to have agreed to a salary of around €5m per year, which is below the wages he currently earns at Villa Park.

Juventus now need to find an agreement with Aston Villa, who have the 33‑year‑old under contract until 2029 and are understood to value him at a minimum of around €10–15m.

While Juve are pushing for a cut-price or even free transfer due to his age and willingness to leave, negotiations over the fee promise to be the next major hurdle in completing Alisson’s would‑be replacement.

Meanwhile, Alisson is expected to remain Liverpool’s first choice ‘keeper heading into the 2026/27 season.
