Liverpool has reportedly made progress on Yan Diomande regarding the player’s side.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein previously reported last week that the Reds had made contact with RB Leipzig over a potential deal.

Diomande has quickly climbed Liverpool’s shortlist of attacking targets for the upcoming summer, with the club viewing him as a leading candidate to help replace Mohamed Salah following his end‑of‑season exit.
After joining RB Leipzig from Leganes only last year, the winger has just enjoyed a genuine breakout campaign, racking up 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Now Ben Jacobs, speaking to GiveMeSports’ Market Madness Podcast, first explained that Leipzig have predictably made his valuation high to try and buy time for a potential contract extension:
“Liverpool would like to get this one done quickly, the asking price is now above 100 million euros… Leipzig seem to be adding about a million a day.”
“The reason why they are doing that is they want an answer from Diomande. Until they find out whether he will sign a new deal, the intent is to keep the price as high as possible to buy time.
“As soon as Diomande says he’s ‘staying or going’, Leipzig will either settle his future – or at the opposite extreme, they will realise the player wants to go and then the overall package will come down at least a little bit,” Jacobs explained
“Liverpool have a great relationship with the agency of Diomande and with Leipzig too.”
He then added that Liverpool have made progress on Diomande’s side, but that PSG are the main obstacle for the Reds currently:
“I would say he’s Liverpool’s top choice, above Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise, who is quite impossible to get because Bayern Munich will refuse to sell.”
“Liverpool have made progress on the player side in regard to Yan Diomande. They are relatively optimistic, within Liverpool, that Diomande would like to join.”
“It’s Liverpool vs PSG for Yan Diomande for now.”
