49ers' Trent Williams had hilarious two-word reaction to Rams' Myles Garrett trade

The San Francisco 49ers are in the toughest division in the NFL, with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the 2026 Super Bowl favorite Los Angeles Rams both residing in the NFC West, along with the 49ers.

It was already going to be a tough task winning this division, and then, the Rams went out and pulled off a stunning blockbuster trade, landing Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.

ESPN's Nick Wagoner shared some reaction from within the 49ers facility, and while some players initially didn't believe the trade or look forward to the challenge in 2026, Trent Williams shared a hilarious and relatable two-word reaction to the news.

After the trade, Williams shared a very succinct response to the blockbuster deal between the Rams and Browns: "It sucks," Williams said.

For the future Hall of Fame offensive tackle, this reaction is a very understandable one. His job just got a lot more difficult, as instead of being able to avoid Garrett, the best pass rusher in the NFL, he has to face him twice this season.

Making things even worse is that the 49ers begin their 2026 season overseas in Australia against Garrett and the Rams.

Williams won't have any time to warm up to the regular season before he gets the toughest matchup possible. Then, later in the year, in Week 14, he'll face the future Hall of Fame edge rusher once again.

While he has held his own against Garrett and superstars like him before, it doesn't change the fact that this is going to be a tough task for the veteran tackle.

But this reaction from Williams upon learning the rival Rams traded for the best pass rusher in the NFL is hilarious and understandable.

Williams will have to see Garrett twice this season, a task that for the 37-year-old offensive tackle is far from ideal.
