Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has broken his silence regarding the team's decision to trade star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots earlier this month.
While speaking with media members about the move, Sirianni sounded grateful for the time that Brown spent in Philadelphia and the success that the Eagles were able to achieve during Brown's tenure with the team.
"I would say that it was a lot of good years," Sirianni said of Brown's time in Philly. "Done a lot of good things with A.J. here. Two times in the Super Bowl. I think he was All-Pro multiple times. Pro Bowl multiple times. I would say it was a good run."
But, while Sirianni will look back fondly on Brown's stint with the Eagles, the Super Bowl-winning coach is more focused on looking forward than looking backward. Sirianni expressed excitement about the Eagles' current crop of pass-catchers, which includes DeVonta Smith and first-round pick Makai Lemon.
“But, really excited about that room that we have. DeVonta Smith has had a really good offseason, has had five good years of being an Eagle as well. Very, very productive. And excited that he’s going to get extra opportunities that he works so hard to," Sirianni said.
"Really excited about Makai and where he is this offseason and just his ability to catch the football, his toughness. I think that’s a great addition to that room.”
