Patriots Insider Reveals Worst Player From First Minicamp Practice

The Patriots offense drew rave reviews for its performance in New England's first minicamp practice, but the defense was a different story.

In his post-practice recap, Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal identified linebacker Robert Spilane as perhaps the worst player from the session, which featured no pats or contact.

"Robert Spillane was beaten on touchdowns by (Hunter) Henry and (Rhamondre) Stevenson," Bedard wrote. "Probably the one down of the day, but he is coming back from an offseason procedure."

As Bedard noted, Spillane still is working his way back from the ankle injury that plagued him late last season and throughout the playoffs. Prior to suffering the injury, Spillane was one of New England's best and most consistent defensive players.

In 13 games, the veteran posted 97 total tackles, including four for a loss, along with one sack, one fumble recovery and two interceptions. He projects as the Patriots' top inside linebacker against next season.
