KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KLTV) - Former Whitehouse Wildcat Patrick Mahomes is signing a two-year extension with the Kansas City Chiefs that will keep him with the team through 2033 and bring the value of his contract to more than $500 million, according to ESPN.
With the extension, Mahomes is the first player to have a deal valued at more than $500 million.
The new money from the extension is worth $239.05 million. That brings the total value of Mahomes’ contract to $504.75 million.
Including incentives and escalators, Mahomes can make up to $522.25 million.
The new money will begin in 2027, bringing Mahomes’ average annual value to $64 million, a new NFL record.
This is the third extension that Mahomes has signed with the Chiefs. Mahomes missed the final three games last season after tearing his ACL and MCL. Kansas City begins preseason play Aug. 15 against the Los Angeles Rams. The team’s regular-season opener is Sept. 14 against the Denver Broncos.
