Liverpool have a squad full to the brim with talent.

On the face of things, there's not one player who is outstandingly bad but, for some reason, things just didn't click during the 2025-26 season.

And now, Andoni Iraola has a lot of changes to make before the 2026-27 season kicks off.

Talks between the Spaniard and Richard Hughes are probably underway but, even fans can see that at least four or five new players need to be added to their ranks.

The transfer rumour mill is obviously going to be constantly turning this summer with the latest news to emerge from Anfield potentially marking the end of an era for one Liverpool star.

Liverpool are eyeing up a move for Arda Guler

Arda Guler has been one of Real Madrid's break-out players this season.

Although the Turkiye international wasn't high on their list of priorities at the start of the campaign, he's now forced his way to the top of Los Blancos' team sheet.

His versatility coupled with his keen eye for a goal are just two of the things that make him an extremely valuable player.

And, with the form he's been in this term, it's hardly surprising to see that Liverpool are interested in signing him.

That is, if a report from Sports Boom is to be believed.

"Chelsea is not alone in this race [for Guler]," they wrote.

"According to sources close to SportsBoom, Arsenal and Liverpool are also closely monitoring the situation of Arda Guler.

"Both clubs want to increase their midfield depth, and this interest is fueled by the anticipation that the age, technical capacity and market value of Guler will multiply exponentially in the coming years.

"Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has always looked favourably upon young and highly technical players. Although whether Guler can adapt to the Arsenal system remains a topic of debate, it is known that the interest rests on a concrete foundation.

"On the Liverpool front, the search for a creative profile like Guler is clearly felt during the new generation rebuilding process under the new management of Andoni Iraola."

Harvey Elliott would certainly be sold if Liverpool signed Arda Guler

Harvey Elliott is a player that most Liverpool fans will have probably forgotten about due to his lack of playing time for Aston Villa.

The young Englishman joined the Villans to try and get some extra playing time under his belt to try and make Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad.

However, since Unai Emery didn't want to sign him permanently, the 23-year-old only played nine games all season, one under his 10-game buying clause.

This means that the "world-stopping" midfielder will be making his way back to Liverpool in the summer.

But, if Iraola and Hughes choose to sign someone such as Guler, there's going to be no way for Elliott to get into the Spaniard's plans.

Elliott would have to be loaned out again or sold which, at this point in his career, is probably against what he wants, especially since there's a new manager at the helm.

Liverpool have a lot of decisions to make ahead of the summer transfer window but, if one of their priorities isn't figuring out what the future holds for Elliot, then they need to give their priority list a serious check.
