'Thank Goodness For That, Total Liability' 'Just A Red Card Merchant' Man Utd Fans Relieved As Transfer Story Is Debunked

Man Utd are “not preparing a bid” for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero, according to Manchester Evening News reporter Steven Railston.

Sources close to the Red Devils have told the journalist that reports from Argentina about the club’s interest in the centre-back are baseless. Romero has been widely criticised for his indiscipline during his time at Spurs, and United fans on X are delighted that he won’t be making the switch to Old Trafford:

Man Utd are happy with their centre-half options

It was decided heading into the summer transfer window that no new additions would be brought in for the centre of defence.

There have been concerns about the fitness of Matthijs de Ligt, who may not be available for the start of next season after undergoing surgery on a chronic back problem.

However, manager Michael Carrick is said to be content with the other four options at his disposal – Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.

Signing a left-back is under consideration

Tyrell Malacia’s impending departure on a free transfer means that Luke Shaw needs more competition for his place.

Director of Football Jason Wilcox is said to have identified Newcastle’s Lewis Hall as the preferred option, but there are no guarantees that he will leave St James’ Park this summer.

Reports suggest that an offer in the region of £60m to £70m would be needed for the Magpies to even consider offloading the England international.

Moves for other targets, including Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown, may have to be explored before the transfer window closes.
