Mike Brown gets real as NBA not punishing Victor Wembanyama shove on Brunson

After the NBA did not punish Victor Wembanyama for blatantly shoving Jalen Brunson in Game 3, Knicks coach Mike Brown is simply wishing for clean officiating.

The NBA formally announced on Tuesday that no actions or punishment will be taken against Victor Wembanyama for his questionable antics on Jalen Brunson during Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals.

On his end, Mike Brown can only shrug off the league's decision, as he wants nothing but fairness in officiating moving forward.

"The league is going to do what it's gonna do," the New York Knicks head coach told reporters ahead of Game 4 of the series, per Joe Pantorno of amNewYork. "They ain't gonna listen to me and they ain't gonna listen to nobody else.

"I said my piace after [Game 3], and I hope that everything's consistent on both ends throughout the whole game."

No punishment from NBA vs. Wembanyama after Brunson shove

Amid clamor and backlash from fans, the NBA review office did not find any wrongdoing in Wembanyama's infamous move against Brunson last Monday.

The French superstar suddenly shoved Brunson hard, forcing the Knicks guard to stumble and touch the floor. Irate, Brunson immediately went against Wembanyama, but officials did not even blow a whistle to assess Wembanyama.

In the aftermath of Game 3, Brown notably ranted against the officiating from the Knicks' 115-111 loss against the Spurs.

He questioned the free-throw disparity for both teams, as the Spurs shot 24 attempts in the second half compared to the Knicks' eight.

"I never thought I'd be in the NBA Finals and see a team get 24 free throw attempts in the second half to another team's eight," Brown told reporters. "And I don't think I complain much about officials or the fairness when it comes to the free throw attempts.

"Maybe we were fouling, but they fouled too."

Brown and the Knicks will look to bounce back in Game 4 and secure a 3-1 lead before the Finals series shifts back to San Antonio.
