Stephen A. Smith sends one final message to Knicks before Game 4 vs. Spurs

Stephen A. Smith of ESPN is just one of the millions of New York Knicks fans hoping to see the franchise finally end its NBA title drought.

Jalen Brunson and company can take one giant step closer to achieving that goal on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York, with the Knicks looking to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.

But the Knicks have also surrendered momentum to Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, who spoiled the NBA Finals return to the Big Apple on Monday with a 115-111 Game 3 victory, trimming New York's series lead to 2-1.

Just before Game 4, Smith sent a strong message to the Knicks about what he believes New York should do to prevent the Spurs from winning two straight and tying the series.

“The New York Knicks have to humble [the Spurs] and answer the call. If they don’t, it’s gon’ be a tall task to go back to San Antonio,” Smith said.

While Smith did not mention anything technical about what the Knicks need to bounce back from that Game 3 loss, his take that New York faces a tough outlook if it loses Game 4 seems on point.

A loss in Game 4 to the Spurs would not just tie the series at 2-2 but also give San Antonio complete control of the momentum and provide them with a huge lift going into Game 5 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

A Knicks win Wednesday, on the other hand, will set them up for a potential series clincher on the road in Game 5.
