Depot After Dark: Max Starks’ Football Camp, Steelers Exec As Keynote Speaker, Colts WR Talks…

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article, but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for June 10.

MAX STARKS’ FOOTBALL CAMP

Offensive lineman Max Starks was an underrated piece of the Steelers’ championship teams in the 2000s. The team selected him in the third round of the 2004 draft, and he spent nine seasons with Pittsburgh. Starks became an everyday starter in his second year and never looked back, becoming a mainstay on their offensive line.

He’s continued to represent the Steelers well off the field, too. That includes hosting youth football camps in his hometown of Orlando, Florida. Chris Hays of the Orlando Sentinel recently shared on Twitter that this weekend will mark the 20th year of Starks hosting camps in Orlando. He started during his playing days, and he’s remained consistent since then.

STEELERS EXEC AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER

The Steelers have undergone a ton of changes this offseason, especially with their coaching staff. While their front office has made a few tweaks, many of their executives are still in place. That includes Darrel Young, who has been the Steelers’ director of player development since 2021. He also played fullback in the NFL from 2009-2017, bouncing around between a few teams.

Young’s experiences have given him extensive knowledge across several subjects. Passport Academy Charter School recently posted a video on its YouTube channel of Young as the keynote speaker at their recent graduation ceremony. He’s done a lot in his life, so he has a lot to pass around to younger people.

COLTS WR TALKS PITTMAN

Michael Pittman Jr. was one of the Steelers’ big additions this offseason. He finally gives them a solid No. 2 receiver. That position has been a weakness for them for the last few years. Pittman has been a consistent player since he entered the league in 2020.

Pittman was previously with the Indianapolis Colts, and they might miss his presence. Colts wide receiver Ashton Dulin recently talked on the team’s YouTube channel about how big losing Pittman is. He brought more to their team than just what he did on the field. The Steelers will face the Colts in Week 5 this year, so Pittman will get a firsthand view of how his former team is doing without him.
