The Georgia Tech standout enjoyed a remarkable season, hitting .397 with a 1.291 OPS in 61 games. He blasted 20 home runs, drove in 78 RBIs, and scored 85 runs while leading all Division I catchers in batting average. His offensive production helped power one of the most explosive offenses in college baseball history, as the Yellow Jackets shattered numerous program records throughout the season.

Despite playing one of baseball’s most demanding positions, he stole 15 bases and showcased elite speed rarely seen behind the plate. Defensively, Lackey proved just as valuable. He threw out six attempted base stealers and recorded five back-pick outs, making opponents think twice before testing his arm. His leadership behind the plate also played a significant role in Georgia Tech’s pitching success, helping the Yellow Jackets post a 4.36 ERA in ACC play, the best mark in the conference.
