Charles Barkley rips Spurs PG De’Aaron Fox for ‘dumbass play’ vs. Knicks

The New York Knicks did the unthinkable. The Knicks completed the largest comeback in NBA Finals history, erasing a 29-point deficit for a 107-106 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4.

The Knicks took their first lead with just under two minutes left. But second-year guard Stephon Castle knocked down a couple of free throws to retake the lead. After a miss from New York, De'Aaron got the ball in the front court with a chance to dribble it out. Instead, he went to the rack for a layup.

OG Anunoby chased him down for a game-saving block with under eight seconds left. Following a Knicks timeout, Anunoby tipped in Jalen Brunson's miss for the game-winner with 1.2 seconds left. Madison Square Garden was practically shaking as celebrities were losing their minds.

Afterward, Inside the NBA's Charles Barkley put Fox's decision to go to the rim on blast.

In all likelihood, had the Spurs guard just held the ball, he would have been fouled and gone to the free throw line. Fox is an excellent free throw shooter.

Instead, New York took advantage of the mistake.

But Fox's decision was far from the only reason for the loss. Victor Wembanyama bricked two free throws a couple possessions before that. After a record-setting first half, the Spurs went ice cold from the field in the second.

Meanwhile, the Knicks, who erased a 22-point deficit in the final seven minutes against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, showed its grit and heart once again.

Game 5 is slated for Saturday night in San Antonio. New York will look to capture its first NBA title in 53 years, while the Spurs just hope to send it back to New York.
