Spurs legend Manu Ginobili shares heartbreaking reaction to ‘unreal’ Game 4 loss

After coming out to a comfortable lead in the first quarter and cementing an all-time first half heading into intermission, the San Antonio Spurs suffered what might just go down as their worst loss in franchise history, losing Game 4 of the NBA Finals to the New York Knicks 107-106.

Taking to social media to discuss the loss, all-time Spurs legend Manu Ginobili told fans to keep their heads up, as there is no other option after such a crushing loss.

“I cannot believe what just happened! Unreal! Extremely tough loss. Now time to lick wounds and try again. No alternatives,” Ginobili said. “No puedo creer el partido que perdimos! Extremadamente doloroso! Ahora a lamerse las heridas y volver a intentarlo. No queda otra.”

To say Ginobili's assertion is dead on the money might actually be an understatement, as it's hard to put into words just how in the bag this win felt at times for the Spurs. San Antonio scored 41 points in the first half, one of their best marks of the playoffs so far, and were absolutely unconscious from beyond the arc, setting a new NBA Finals record with 14 made shots over the first two quarters.

And yet, in the second half, the 3-ball stopped falling, and the Spurs really didn't have a backup plan on offense, with the Knicks routinely stifling possessions and taking advantage of a slew of turnovers. If San Antonio is going to keep their NBA Finals dreams alive back in Alamo City, they will need to formulate a better strategy to exploit the Knicks. Otherwise, the series might not make it back to New York for Game 6.
