Agent expected to finalise details of Liverpool renewal in coming days – Reds made offer

Liverpool‘s Keyrol Figueroa has a contract until June 30th and his immediate future needs sorting.

Earlier this week, Liverpool confirmed they’ve made a renewal offer to the 19-year-old.

Liverpool have been working on the Honduras international’s renewal for several months.

In January, Sport Witness covered claims from Honduras that the Reds wanted to offer him an extension and send him on loan but that didn’t happen in the winter market.

His contract situation at Anfield have already attracted interest from New York Red Bulls, Charlotte FC and Elche CF.

The striker joined the Premier League side’s academy from FC Dallas in 2018. He has climbed through their ranks but is yet to make his first team debut.

Future most likely at Liverpool

Honduras’ Deportes TVC points out Liverpool making a contract offer to Keyrol Figueroa and then provides their own updates on his future plans.

This season, he scored 12 goals from 779 minutes from 16 matches for Liverpool U21s.

The Reds offer reflects the attacker’s ‘sustained growth’ and the appreciation he has from his coaches. It also represents a ‘definitive boost to his career’.

He’s keen to make his Premier League debut and cement a place with the Merseyside club. In other words, the youngster is ready to sign a new contract.

Deportes TVC claim that in the ‘coming days’, Figueroa’s agent is expected to finalise the details of a new contract with Andoni Iraola’s side. Barring any last-minute twist, the attacker should continue at Anfield.

Liverpool have decision to make

Andoni Iraola will be without Hugo Ekitike for several months after the French striker suffered a serious injury in April.

If the Reds decide against signing a new striker, Keyrol Figueroa could be an option until Ekitike returns. That’s only if the Honduran accepts the contract offer made by Liverpool.

The other option for the youngster is to sign an extension and go out on loan to gain first team experience.
