Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea transfer news that you guys could have missed…
AC Milan forward Rafael Leão has reportedly opened the door to a summer departure from the Italian giants, with the Portugal international said to be keen on testing himself in the Premier League amid growing interest from CHELSEA .
The winger has long been regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents and has been consistently linked with a move away from San Siro over the past several transfer windows. Fresh reports now suggest Leão is ready for a new challenge, with England emerging as his preferred destination should he leave Milan this summer.
Leão has been a standout performer for AC Milan since arriving from Lille in 2019, developing into one of Serie A’s most dangerous forwards. His pace, dribbling ability and eye for goal have made him a key figure for the Rossoneri, helping the club secure the Serie A title and establish themselves once again among Europe’s elite.
However, speculation surrounding his future has intensified following reports that the Portuguese star is interested in experiencing a different league and believes the Premier League represents the next step in his career. Such comments are likely to place several English clubs on alert as they prepare for what is expected to be another busy transfer window.
Speaking to Sport TV, Leao said: “I felt I could make a difference, but the way the team played didn’t put me in a position to do so. I need a new challenge. In Italy, the league is evolving, but for my style of football, the Premier League or La Liga would better showcase my talent and me as a player.
‘If the opportunity in the Premier League were to come my way, I would be very happy: I think I would be able to match my talent with players who are at a very high level.”
“It was a difficult season. I played injured for 4-5 months with groin pain, in a position that isn’t my style,” Leao admitted. “The tactical system didn’t help me. I felt I could make a difference, but the way the team played didn’t put me in a position to do so. In the end, it becomes exhausting.
“However, I’ve often played as a second striker in my career, and I think it’s my favorite position. And I can also play as a false 9, especially in a team like Portugal. As a winger, after dribbling, I have more time to think about whether to shoot, dribble again, or cross.
‘But playing as a second striker, I’m closer to the goal and I have to be more concrete: either I make assists or I shoot. It’s a detail I need to work on. Ultimately, football is based on numbers, and it’s the last step I’m missing.”
CHELSEA TOLD TO SELL DELAP
Former Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland midfielder Andy Townsend has claimed it would be in the best interests of all parties for Liam Delap to leave Chelsea.
Townsend’s comments come amid growing speculation surrounding Delap’s future, with several clubs reportedly monitoring the England international ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking about the forward’s development, Townsend suggested that Delap has yet to demonstrate he can consistently perform at the level required by a top-flight side competing near the upper end of the table
‘Liam Delap’s next club? Everton are desperate for a striker,’ the former Chelsea midfielder told OLBG. ‘They’ve got Beto and Tierno Barry, and neither of them are good enough, so Everton definitely need one.
‘Liam at CHELSEA , when compared to Ipswich, he’s always looked a little inhibited. Is it the way the team plays, or is it just being a higher-profile player now at a bigger club?
‘Whenever he’s come on as a sub, he’s rarely had an impact. I’ve very rarely seen anything where I’ve thought, “Wow, now I can see what Chelsea have invested in.” I just haven’t seen anything from him yet, to be honest.
‘But that happens, he’s not the first striker to go to a club where it doesn’t work out. For whatever reason, sometimes you can’t always put your finger on it. Certain players go to certain clubs, and it just doesn’t happen.
‘Fernando Torres, moving from Liverpool to CHELSEA , was a world apart. So, for Liam Delap, I think a move to somewhere where he’s going to be the main man, regular, and consistent is necessary, but he’s got to find a little bit more to his game.
‘He’s looked like a Championship player trying to cut it at a top Premier League team and he’s looked awkward and it hasn’t just looked like it’s the right sort of fit.
‘So I think he’s got to believe in himself a bit more. I’d like to think in the summer he will keep himself in really good nick in case something happens.
SHOCK NUNEZ TALKS
Chelsea have reportedly held exploratory talks over a potential move for Uruguay international Darwin Nunez, with the former Liverpool striker emerging as a surprise target.
According to sources, The striker, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal after departing Liverpool, is understood to be attracting interest from several clubs amid ongoing speculation about his future. ***CHELSEA***‘s search for additional firepower remains a key priority despite significant investment in attacking talent over recent transfer windows. The club’s recruitment team has been exploring a number of options across Europe and beyond, with Nunez’s profile reportedly viewed as an intriguing opportunity should the conditions of a transfer prove favourable. The 27-year-old remains one of the most recognizable forwards in world football. Known for his pace, physical presence and relentless work rate, Nunez enjoyed mixed fortunes during his time at Liverpool but still produced important goals and memorable performances during his spell at Anfield. His ability to stretch defences and create chances through direct running has continued to attract admirers despite criticism over consistency in front of goal. Chelsea are believed to value the striker’s Premier League experience, with decision-makers aware that adapting to English football can often take time for overseas arrivals. Nunez’s previous experience in the division could make him an attractive option as the club seeks players capable of making an immediate impact. Any move, however, would likely involve complex negotiations. Al-Hilal invested heavily to secure the striker and may be reluctant to sanction a departure unless a significant offer is received. The Saudi club continues to view Nunez as an important part of its long-term ambitions both domestically and in continental competition MORE BIG CHELSEA NEWS AND GOSSIP Top Read: Chelsea holding talks to sign world class star for FREE this summer Most Read: £60M star would be brilliant signing for Chelsea – Xabi Alonso told!
