Rangers are now eyeing a move for a "superb" 26-cap international, with Premier League side Everton prepared to sanction a departure.
Rohl looking to create dynasty at Ibrox
After his side crumbled during the business end of the 2025-26 Scottish Premiership season, which led to bitter rivals Celtic lifting the title, Danny Rohl believes a number of new additions to the squad will be necessary this summer if he is going to create a dynasty at Ibrox.
Rohl said: “We need personnel rebuild, but also more consistency. Many coaches have come and gone in recent years, each with their own philosophy, each trying to build a team.
“Now I’m here, and there’s a clear roadmap. Together with the board, meaning the club’s decision-makers and investors, we want to find the players who can help us. The goal isn’t to create a one-hit wonder, but to win titles over two, three, or four years. Perhaps that’s why we have to go through this difficult period again.”

One area in which the Gers are looking to strengthen is defence, and they are now preparing a second bid for Westerlo right-back Bryan Reynolds, having had an opening offer of £2.1m knocked back by the Belgian side.
However, Reynolds is not the only target in that area of the pitch.

Rangers eyeing move for "superb" right-back as Reynolds alternative
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Rangers are also plotting a move for Everton right-back Nathan Patterson, who made 27 senior appearances for the Glasgow giants before making a move to Merseyside back in 2022.
The move seemingly hasn't panned out how Patterson would have hoped though, as the Toffees are now prepared to sanction a summer departure, given that he has been unable to hold down a consistent place in David Moyes' side.
The ex-Gers man started just three Premier League games last season, having been unable to displace Jake O’Brien in the starting XI, but rakes in £28,000-a-week at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which would instantly make him a top earner at Ibrox.
Nathan Patterson's Premier League season
7 matches
3 starts
240 minutes played
77.8% aerials duels won
60.6% duels won
31 defensive contributions
The 26-cap Scotland international did manage to impress at times in an Everton shirt, being lauded as "superb" by one analyst courtesy of his performance in a 1-0 victory away at Aston Villa back in January.

Prior to making the move south of the border, the full-back was also lauded by Steven Gerrard for his performance in a 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague, with the ex-Gers boss saying: “He was outstanding; I think he became a man tonight.
"This was probably the biggest game of his career – in fact it is, for sure. He has had a real big few weeks emotionally and he has stepped into the captain’s position and played with maturity.”
With Patterson not getting a look in at Everton, a return to Ibrox would make sense for all parties.
