There has been a big update on the race for Adam Wharton, who is the subject of interest from a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.
It has been widely reported over recent months that Spurs view Wharton as their dream midfield addition this summer as the Lilywhites go about rebuilding their squad after two successive 17th-place finishes.
However, it was later reported that the Tottenham target has set his sights on joining a Champions League club in the summer, with a number of big Premier League clubs entering the race for the 22-year-old.
It appeared that Spurs’ pursuit of the Crystal Palace star was over, but the Lilywhites may have now been handed a lifeline.

Liverpool and Chelsea put off from pursuing Tottenham target Adam Wharton
Journalist Alan Nixon has revealed on his Patreon that the England international is attracting ‘high interest’ from the Premier League and European clubs ahead of next season.
He reveals that the Eagles have now slapped a £100m asking price on Wharton, which, if met, would make him the club’s record sale.
Palace believe the midfielder is of the same level as Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson, and want top dollar for their star man this summer.

While Liverpool and Chelsea had expressed an interest in Wharton, both clubs have been put off by Palace’s asking price, with the Blues and Reds wanting to pay only around £50-£60m for the player.
That may potentially open the door for Tottenham to pursue a deal for the 22-year-old, but £100m would represent a huge outlay for the North Londoners, whose record signing remains Dominic Solanke for £65m.
Joao Palhinha uncertainty complicates matters for Spurs
Yves Bissouma has hinted that he is on his way out of Tottenham, but he may not be the only senior midfielder to depart the club this summer.
While Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear that he wants Joao Palhinha at Spurs next season, a deal for the 30-year-old does not appear straightforward.
The Portugal international is weighing up a return to Sporting Lisbon and Tottenham, and his decision may have a big impact on the Lilywhites’ plans to rebuild their midfield.
