While job security is on the minds of many, Charles Barkley doesn’t seem too concerned.
The Inside the NBA star analyst is known for shooting off his mouth while talking basketball, and Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks was no different as he poked fun at Cardi B’s breast size.
The rapper was the halftime entertainer at Madison Square Garden on Monday night, after which Barkley joked, “I don’t know if those B’s. Those might be Cardi D’s.”
The “I Like It” artist’s only response to Barkley’s comments appeared to be a post on X she shared showing both their names trending at the time.
Barkley, 63, was asked by veteran sportscaster Dan Patrick on his radio show whether management or any higher-ups sat him down to discuss some of the comments he has made, and the former NBA MVP was as candid as ever.
“Dan, you know, I’m hoping they fire me,” Barkley said as Patrick laughed. “I got six or seven years left on my contract that they know I’ve got no chance of doing. I would love for them to fire me and have to pay me for the next six or seven years.”
He continued: “I was talking to my agent. I was like, ‘What can I do to get fired, but they’d have to pay me for the whole six, seven years?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I would love to get fired. I’m not gonna lie.’”
“There’s zero chance I’m gonna be working the next six, seven years. Zero,” he declared.
“I know if they fired me, they’d have to pay me all of those years. And I heard through the grapevine that I make great money, so thank goodness for that,” he said.
