Chelsea have reportedly been urged to consider a shock summer move for Marcus Rashford, after former Blues winger Joe Cole suggested the Manchester United forward could rediscover his best form at Stamford Bridge.
Cole, who remains highly respected at CHELSEA for his creative influence during the club’s dominant mid-2000s era, believes Rashford’s future could hinge on a fresh environment.
With uncertainty continuing around the England international’s long-term role at Manchester United, speculation has intensified that a summer departure may not be off the table if the right offer arrives.
Chelsea are said to be monitoring a range of attacking options as they continue to refine their forward line, and Rashford’s name has now emerged as a surprise but intriguing possibility. The 28-year-old’s pace, directness, and proven Premier League pedigree make him a profile that would immediately add dynamism to the Blues’ frontline
‘It’s just a matter of the wages and the valuation,’ Cole told The Sun. ‘Rashford ticks a lot of boxes, but you don’t want to spend a fortune on him – he’d do a good job for Chelsea.
‘He needs to keep going, Marcus, he needs to keep his confidence up because he rebuilt himself at Barcelona, and there’s still another level for him to jump to.
‘He’s someone Chelsea should inquire about, but it’ll depend on the deal.’
Would Rashford be a good signing for Chelsea?
On paper, Rashford is exactly the kind of explosive attacker Chelsea have often lacked in recent seasons. His ability to stretch defences, attack space, and finish in transition would suit a team that frequently struggles to turn possession into decisive attacking moments.
In a structured system that prioritises quick ball progression and clear attacking roles, Rashford could thrive. ***CHELSEA***’s midfield creativity—when functioning properly—would likely provide him with more consistent service than he has sometimes received at Manchester United.
However, the risk factor is impossible to ignore. Rashford’s form has fluctuated significantly, and his confidence appears closely tied to his environment. Chelsea have already experienced the challenges of integrating high-profile attackers into an unsettled squad, and another major investment would need careful tactical planning.
Ultimately, Rashford could be either a transformative signing or an expensive gamble. If Chelsea believe they can provide stability and a clearly defined attacking role, the upside is enormous—but so too is the uncertainty.
