Brian Windhorst suggests OG Anunoby ‘double statue’ after game-saving plays

Forget the Statue of Liberty! How about an OG Anunoby statue?

Not one, but two.

Anunoby is being showered with praise after his heroic performance in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday, making a crucial block and the game-winning putback to give the New York Knicks the one-point escape, 107-106, against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Knicks rallied from a 29-point deficit, including 20 in the fourth quarter, to record the biggest comeback in finals history.

The furious fightback almost went for naught if not for Anunoby's remarkable plays in the last 15 seconds. He swatted away what seemed like a sure layup by De'Aaron Fox, giving the Knicks another possession.

The 28-year-old forward then made a soaring tip-in with 1.2 seconds left after Jalen Brunson missed his three-pointer, turning Madison Square Garden into a giant R-rated Chuck E. Cheese.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst said the Knicks should erect two statues of Anunoby to memorialize his back-to-back clutch plays.

“Everyone's talking about this tip-in. Unbelievable. The block. Both of those moments could be turned into statues. In fact, I suggest turning both of them into statues. You should have a double statue,” said Windhorst.

“(The block) is a LeBron James-esque play. He may have just played one of the greatest halves in the history of the sport.”

Anunoby exploded for a postseason career-high 33 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 7-of-9 from long range.

Windhorst's bold pronouncements may have been due to excess adrenaline after covering such a frenetic contest.

But hey, if Giuseppe Garibaldi and Marquis de Lafayette (just look them up) can have statues in New York, why not Anunoby?

Bet Garibaldi and de Lafayette can't make a proper chest pass.
