What Dylan Harper said about OG Anunoby’s game-winning tip-in over him

The San Antonio Spurs needed one stop to avoid the worst collapse in NBA history during Game 4 of the finals on Wednesday. They were inches away from getting it.

With San Antonio up one with 5.7 seconds remaining, Jalen Brunson missed a deep three, only for OG Anunoby to sky in for an acrobatic, game-winning tip-in.

Dylan Harper was the closest Spurs player to Anunoby on the play. The rookie offered his take on the game-deciding sequence following the Spurs' 29-point, second-half collapse.

“It bounced off the rim the right way, he tipped it in the right way, and it went in,” Harper said, via SNY. “I could say that I wish I could've done this, I wish I could've done that, but at the end of the day, he tipped the ball, and it went in the rim. I definitely thought I had a hand on it. I helped put the ball in the rim, but we just gotta box out.”

De'Aaron Fox was guarding Anunoby to start the play. However, he chose to double-team Brunson on the perimeter, giving Anunoby an open runway to the rim for the tip-in, which may go down as the most memorable shot in Knicks history.

Anunoby blocked Fox on an ill-advised, transition layup attempt to set up the game-winning play. The Knicks forward continued a spectacular finals performance during the win, posting 33 points while shooting 10-of-15 from the field, 7-of-9 from three and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. For the series, he's averaged 23.8 points on .580/.556/.917 shooting splits with 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

Anunoby trails Jalen Brunson (-120) by a slight margin (+250) for Finals MVP, per FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Spurs led by 29 points early in the fourth quarter of Game 4. However, they scored 27 points while shooting 7-of-36 from the field and 2-of-15 from three with eight turnovers over the Game's final 22 minutes.

Harper turned in another impressive performance, scoring 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from three in 32 minutes. However, he did not attempt a shot over the game's final 10 minutes, as the Spurs ran their offense through Fox.

The veteran point guard struggled in the closing period, shooting 1-of-5 from the field, including his shocking layup attempt in the final seconds with the Spurs leading.
