Knicks’ Jalen Brunson gives heartbreaking shoutout to Make-A-Wish patient who just passed away

Before meeting with reporters after the New York Knicks' historic Game 4 win, star guard Jalen Brunson addressed a Make-A-Wish patient, with whom he had a personal relationship, after he passed away.

Brunson met with reporters in the wake of the Knicks' win. He wanted to give a shoutout to the Make-A-Wish patient, Jonathan, who had a serious heart condition.

“Real quick, before we get started. Just want to say, my thoughts and prayers are with a friend of mine I got to meet and talk to last week: Jonathan from North Carolina, from the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Garden of Dreams Foundation,” he said. “He had a heart condition, and it was asked of me to kind of reach out to him and take a video.”

“Something in my mind told me to get on FaceTime, chat with him. I got the pleasure to do so. It was a quick call, but it was well worth it. I just want to say my thoughts and prayers for his family. I just found out some news about him today. May God rest his soul.”

Despite the excitement, things matter besides basketball to Brunson. He scored a game-high 36 points in Game 4 against the Spurs.

This was perhaps his best performance of the series. He made 12 of his 25 shots, and he made three of seven three-pointers. Additionally, he had five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.

His last shot helped the Knicks win, even if it didn't go in. He took a 30-foot three-pointer over Victor Wembanyama with under six seconds to go. The shot missed, but OG Anunoby was there to save the day. He tipped the ball through the net, giving the Knicks a one-point lead.
