After Bayern Munich were reported to be exploring a move to sign Rio Ngumoha, a Merseyside journalist has said there was no contact made from the German club to Liverpool.
Liverpool received ‘no call’ from Bayern Munich over Rio Ngumoha
It took us all by surprise when David Ornstein reported that Bayern considered Ngumoha their “main target” for their left-wing.
Of course, Liverpool have no intention of selling the promising 17-year-old and were quick to dismiss the notion of a sale.
The *Liverpool Echo*‘s Paul Gorst has provided further insight, writing: “Some at Liverpool were somewhat bemused by the developments and, as of last week, the club had received no call from Bayern about their interest in Ngumoha.”
While the club itself mightn’t have received a call, that doesn’t necesarily mean that Bayern weren’t putting feelers out toward Ngumoha and his agent.

Gorst added: “No price tag is being placed on Ngumoha, even privately, because Liverpool aren’t looking to sell.
“He is less than a year into his first professional contract with the Reds.”
Selling him now, even for a big fee, would be madness, right?

Liverpool FC: On this day
International football can’t be played at Anfield these days due to the size of the pitch, but back in 1996 the ground hosted four matches of the European Championships.
It was on June 11, 1996 that Italy beat Russia 2-1 as 35,000 fans watched Pierluigi Casiraghi score twice for the team captained by Paulo Maldini.
Neither team won another game after, though, so were knocked out of a group that also included Germany and the Czech Republic.
