Sky: Man Utd considering move for'one of the best left-backs'in the Premier League

Manchester United want to sign a new left-back in this summer’s transfer window to compete with Luke Shaw.

United have been linked with Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall and Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella. Hall is open to joining, but Cucurella wants to move abroad.

United have now added another Premier League star to their left-back targets.

According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils are considering a move for Fulham’s Antonee Robinson. They were also linked with him two years ago as a replacement for Shaw.

Robinson has two years left on his contract and could be attracted by the prospect of playing for United.

Why Man United shouldn’t move for Robinson

Robinson considers himself ‘one of the best left-backs‘ in the Premier League. His speed, defensive resilience, and attacking contribution make him an excellent full-back.

However, he suffered a decline in form last season due to injuries. He missed 13 games due to various fitness concerns last term.

The United States international made 26 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with two goal involvements, eight fewer than he managed in 2024/25.

Robinson recorded just one league assist, created just one big chance and averaged one key pass per game.

However, he was decent defensively, registering the joint-highest interceptions and second most tackles per game in the Fulham squad.

Given his struggles last campaign, United should not step up their interest in him.

The Mancunian giants should focus on signing Hall, who is younger and was one of the best left-backs in the English top-flight last season.

They could also give a chance to academy graduate Harry Amass, but his inexperience at the top level could prevent him from challenging Shaw for a starting berth.
