Adam Schefter reports that Ty Simpson remains unsigned by the Los Angeles Rams as they continue to work on his rookie deal. Funnily enough the other first round quarterback taken in the 2026 NFL Draft, Fernando Mendoza, also remains unsigned.
Both quarterbacks signing with their respective teams seems like a matter of when not if. The similarities are interesting between the two as although Mendonza has a much greater chance to start in 2026 than Simpson, both quarterbacks will likely learn behind veteran starters with Mendoza behind Kirk Counsins, and Simpson behind Matthew Stafford.
They also could still be considering adding a veteran like Stefon Diggs, so the Rams may be trying to figure out how to pay Simpson what his team wants, while retaining the flexibility to add other pieces as needed.
The situation remains something to monitor until Simpson and the Rams formally reach an agreement.
