Former Elite Cowboys Wide Receiver Passes Away
In the early hours of June 7, Lance Rentzel, a former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, passed away. After spending his prime years in the NFL under Tom Landry, Rentzel passed away at the age of 82.
In 1965, the Minnesota Vikings selected him in the second round of the NFL draft, but he was not successful with the mid west franchise. As soon as he joined the Cowboys, everything changed.
He became a key target for the Cowboys’ offense after being traded by the Vikings. During his first three seasons with Dallas, he exceeded 900 receiving yards each year. In 1968, he accumulated 1,009 yards, and in 1969, he accumulated 960 yards. His 12 touchdown receptions led the league that year.
Unfortunately, Rentzel made some disgusting decisions off the field.

Lance Rentzel was arrested in 1970 for indecent exposure of a young girl. As a result of the incident, his tenure in Dallas came to an end. He spent the next four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams after being traded by the Cowboys.
In the wake of his conviction for marijuana possession, the NFL suspended him indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the league.
At this time, the cause of death has not been disclosed. Alexandria, Virginia, was the place of his death.
