As rumors continue to surround Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and which team he will end up with, the favorite appears to be the Miami Heat, though there is one team that could scare them in their pursuit. While the rumors will still swirl around Antetokounmpo, this NBA insider speaks on the franchise that the Heat are looking at, which could ruin their plans.
Miami has been one of the major teams that has been in pursuit of Antetokounmpo for the longest, with them being the favorites to land the star by many. However, Jake Fischer of The Stein Line would go into why the Boston Celtics “genuinely concerns” Miami regarding Antetokounmpo.
“Earlier in the week, league sources with knowledge of the situation maintained that Boston had not yet seriously engaged Milwaukee on an Antetokounmpo trade … but they also declined to rule out the possibility of the Celtics eventually entering the fray. Rival teams, furthermore, continue to point to Boston's various assets as illustrating its ability to become a factor here,” Fischer continued.
The Celtics' offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo could rival the Heat's
Fischer would go into how the offer from the Heat to the Bucks that is “firmly on the table” includes a package of Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and draft capital for Antetokounmpo. However, Boston could potentially have a package that includes star Jaylen Brown, which “hasn't been categorically dismissed as a possibility.”

This has also been mentioned by ClutchPoints' NBA insider Brett Siegel on the Celtics trading Brown for Antetokounmpo.
“They also note that Antetokounmpo shares a skills coach with Jayson Tatum (Drew Hanlen) and is believed to have a level of interest in landing with the Celtics on top of his well-chronicled affinity for Miami,” Fischer wrote.
“Those same sources likewise insist that the Celtics have yet to engage in any meaningful trade conversation this spring involving Jaylen Brown after Brown's tremendous 2025-26 campaign … but it also hasn't been categorically dismissed as a possibility,” Fischer continued.
At any rate, it remains to be seen if Miami or Boston ends up acquiring Antetokounmpo this offseason.
