Manchester United continue to be linked with midfielders in the transfer market, and the latest interest has seen the club rumoured to be interested in a star from Ligue 1, according to reports from FootMercato.
The Red Devils are still looking to bolster the central ranks, even with the upcoming signing of Ederson from Atalanta after an agreement was reached for the 26-year-old to join this summer.
Plenty of interest has been shown in some big-money transfer targets, with Alex Scott and Mateus Fernandes being touted in the £80 million range, while Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Carlos Baleba have all been valued at £100 million or more.
Value is the name of the game in the transfer market, however, and Man United may have another name in mind to help the midfield rebuild continue.
Man United Prepare Mamadou Sangare Bid
Mamadou Sangare
As the midfield market heats up, a report from Foot Mercato claims that Man United are showing interest in a move for RC Lens star Mamadou Sangare.
It's stated that his performances have caught the eye of the Old Trafford outfit, while it's also claimed that several unnamed Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the Malian international.
Having been impressed with his performances, the report adds that Man United are the ones preparing a first bid to land Sangare ahead of their rivals.
Lens are bracing for the possibility of losing the 23-year-old, despite the fact that he signed a long-term deal until 2030 last summer when he joined from Rapid Wien.
It could end up being a move that makes sense for the Red Devils following an impressive campaign for the midfielder.

How Good Is Sangare?
Mamadou Sangare (1)
Mamadou Sangare's links with a move to the Premier League are no surprise, following a campaign where he proved the impact he can make as an all-action midfielder.
The midfielder made 33 appearances for Lens across all competitions and was praised for his commitment off-the-ball, as much as his quality on it.
Following his move from Austria, Sangare quickly became a regular, and even helped Lens to go on and win the Coupe de France with a memorable win over OGC Nice in the final.
Those displays have seen him be described as "one of the best midfielders in Europe" for the past campaign, something that has clearly caught the eye of some big teams.

Key Target: Man Utd Hold Talks to Sign Liverpool Winger
He could be part of a double Manchester United transfer swoop on their rivals
It may be a quick jump for the Mali international to make after just one year in Ligue 1, but there are signs that he could adjust well to the Premier League.
The question is whether such a move from Man United would be as an alternative to the other high-profile names linked, or in addition to them.
