The Atlanta Falcons’ offensive tackle depth is relatively weak aside from starters Jake Matthews and Jawaan Taylor. Storm Norton sat out the entire 2025 season after suffering an ankle injury during training camp and then experiencing a setback in late October. Michael Jerrell has started only three games and logged fewer than 300 snaps in his first two seasons, while Jack Nelson was limited to just four snaps as a rookie. Riley Mahlman will compete for a roster spot and has been named the team’s most exciting undrafted free agent.
The Atlanta Falcons acquire a 1x-Super Bowl champion for much-needed depth
According to Jordan Schultz, the Atlanta Falcons have acquired Wanya Morris and a 2027 7th-round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2027 6th-round pick, reuniting him with Jawaan Taylor. The former third-round pick enters the final year of his rookie contract, and the Falcons will inherit a one-year, non-guaranteed $1.432 million deal. Morris recently fell out of the Chiefs’ favor, with the team recently exploring trade options for him and seeking draft compensation rather than cutting him outright.

After starting a career-high 11 games and logging 734 offensive snaps in 2024 and being benched twice, including losing the starting job in the playoffs, Wanya Morris had a down third season. He began the year as the third-string tackle and was a healthy scratch in Week 12. Morris filled in at left tackle in Week 13 and started Week 14. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending knee injury on the first play of his lone start and was limited to a career-low 12 games and 66 offensive snaps in 2025.
