Mike Macdonald: Seahawks looking at early training camp return for Tory Horton

The Seattle Seahawks wrap up their mandatory minicamp on Thursday. A notable absence from practice is second-year wide receiver Tory Horton, who missed the back-end of Seattle’s season with a shin injury.

“Yeah, still still all positive with Tory,” Macdonald said on Wednesday. “He’s not going to do anything today or tomorrow. But we should be looking at early on in [training] camp, if not the beginning of camp. You know—if we stay on schedule and everything goes well, we’ll be praying that he can be out there.

“It won’t be a full, you know—you got to be smart [with] how he comes back and all that,” Macdonald continued. “But he should be active within—I don’t put a timetable on it. Could be anywhere from day one he’s rocking and rolling or maybe it’s a couple days.”

Horton scored five receiving touchdowns and took a punt return back for a score in his brief rookie season. At the time the Seahawks traded for Rashid Shaheed, the extent of Horton’s injury wasn’t yet that well known. The hope is that Horton’s rehabilitation process is going smoothly and that when things ramp up for training camp, we’ll finally get to see Seattle’s wide receiver group at full strength.
