Manchester City are reportedly considering no longer pursuing a deal to sign Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson this summer. City have already seen a bid rejected for the England international as they look to strengthen their midfield options.
City have had a £106million initial offer for Anderson turned down by Forest, with the proposal also including £15million in add-ons.
If a deal had been agreed, the overall fee offered by City would have exceeded the £105million Arsenal paid West Ham to sign Declan Rice in 2023.
Now, though, it’s being reported that City are weighing up whether or not to walk away from a potential deal to sign Anderson after their bid was rejected by Forest.

The Mirror have reported that City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubara is not looking to begin a bidding war to try and sign Anderson, with the belief that their £120m offer was fair.
As a result, it has been claimed that City are now considering whether or not to withdraw their interest in signing Anderson this summer, although a final decision is yet to be made.
It now remains to be seen what will happen when it comes to Anderson’s future, with the 23-year-old currently in the United States with the England squad for this summer’s World Cup in North America.
Manchester United have also shown an interest in signing Anderson this summer as they look to strengthen their midfield options.
However, it’s understood that United are ready to look at other targets as they prepare for their return to the Champions League next season.
United have already reached an agreement to sign Atalanta star Ederson to add to their midfield options, with a £35m initial fee accompanied by £3.8m in add-ons.
The £120m fee offered by City is thought to be too high for United to match, with Anderson also understood to favour a move to the Etihad Stadium over a switch to Old Trafford.
Anderson could make his first appearance at the World Cup for England when the Three Lions face Croatia in their first Group L fixture on Wednesday night in Dallas.
That will be followed by matches against Ghana, which will be played in Foxborough, and Panama, where the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will take centre stage.
