After New York pulled off a 29-point comeback against the Spurs at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, June 10, riled up fans flocked to the San Antonio team's New York City hotel, where Wembanyama was met with boos and nearly pelted with eggs.

In videos shared on social media, Spurs players are seen departing the team bus and entering the hotel, where the streets were lined with animated Knicks fans booing and yelling at them. As Wembanyama makes his way into the building, an egg strikes a street pole and cracks inches away from the NBA star.

"Man at the of the day, it’s just basketball. Don’t ever dehumanize players," said one user. Another wrote, "As a Knicks fan, I absolutely hate this. I dont like what Wemby is doing on the court. It pisses me off. But game is settled between the lines. Never take sports anger outside the arena. Whether it is fans or players, win and lose with class folks. Dont be a-holes."

"In what reality do people believe this is acceptable," wrote another.

This isn't the first time Knicks fans have gone after Spurs supporters during the NBA Finals. After the Spurs won Game 3 in N.Y.C. on June 8, San Antonio supporters were seen bloodied in videos on social media. Multiple players from the Spurs condemned the violence the next day.

"My thoughts of course [are] that we can't forget it's a game," Wembanyama said, according to ESPN. "We're just playing a game out there. I am all for passion, but [with] the respect of each other. It's unacceptable."

Julian Champagnie told reporters, "I feel we're here to play a basketball game. That's the main thing. I feel like, for the fans, it should never be that serious where you have to jump people, beat people up, follow people home. Whether we win, they win, it doesn't really matter. Everybody should be able to come and enjoy the game, no matter who they're rooting for."

The Spurs were up big on the Knicks at halftime on Wednesday before the lead began to shrink in the second half. The Knicks chipped away and took the lead in the fourth quarter, ultimately winning on a clutch tip-in from OG Anunoby. Game 5 tips off on Saturday, June 13 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
