Following the New York Knicks’ historic Game 4 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Madison Square Garden, Victor Wembanyama had several eggs thrown at him while entering the team’s hotel. A video of the incident has circulated widely on social media from various angles.
On Thursday’s edition of ESPN’s NBA Today, Shams Charania confirmed that eggs were thrown at Wembanyama and that the New York Police Department has not made any arrests in connection with the incident.
“I can confirm that multiple eggs were thrown in the direction of Victor Wembanyama late last night outside the Spurs Hotel. As of right now, the New York Police Department has not made any arrests, though, and the Spurs are on their way back to San Antonio today for game five.

Charania continued, “Game six would be on Tuesday night, unclear where the Spurs would stay. Their hotel for Games 3 and 4 was located just about a five-block radius from Madison Square Garden, where there were 56 arrests, according to NYPD, last night after the game.”
The incident comes after reports and social media videos of Knicks fans allegedly harassing San Antonio Spurs fans, with some incidents escalating into physical altercations. During Tuesday’s media availability, Wembanyama spoke out against the acts of violence and reminded fans that basketball is just a game.
“My thoughts of course [are] that we can’t forget it’s a game,” Wembanyama said. “We’re just playing a game out there. I am all for passion, but [with] the respect of each other. It’s unacceptable.”
